It was built in the mid 19th century as a school and recently closed as a health centre when its services were transferred to the medical centre at Dyche Close.
If approved, the homes will be a mix of four two bed and a one bed homes, and two four bed semi-detached houses.
To achieve this, it is proposed a single storey side lean-to will be demolished, a single-storey extension built, additional access and provision of rooflights formed along with parking and landscaping works.

But there were nine representations recieved by the council, all objecting. Issues raised included lack of parking, character of the building, overlooking and impact on wildlife.
Despite these, in a report, council officers recommended it for approval subject to conditions and said: “The long term use of the former school as a preferred use in this housing area is considered a major positive factor weighing in favour of the scheme and the provision of a further seven housing units overall would make a small but positive contribution to the city’s housing supply at an acceptable density and would also contribute to the diversity of the housing stock in the area both of which amount to a public benefit.
“It is considered that it has been demonstrated that there are no significant adverse impacts as a consequence of this application being granted, and there will be a benefit to housing supply of granting permission for seven dwellings on the site. Furthermore, it is considered that the relevant development policies that are most important for determining this application can still be afforded substantial weight as they accord with the corresponding sections within the NPPF (national planning policy framework).”
