Car hurtles down embankment and crashes into Norton medical centre

A woman has sustained minor injuries after a car smashed into a medical centre.

Emergency services were on scene at Billingham Road after a Renault Captur crashed into a footbridge connected to Norton Medical Centre.

The collision happened shortly after 10am on Tuesday, with police closing the road as ambulance crews assisted.

It is understood that another vehicle may also have been involved.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said: “We had a report of a collision at 10:20am this morning whereby it was reported that a car had collided with a foot bridge near Norton Medical Centre.

“One female reportedly has minor injuries.”

It is understood that no other injuries were reported.

A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.14am to a one vehicle road traffic collision at Norton Medical Centre on Billingham Road.

“We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and a rapid response paramedic.”

They added: “A female patient believed to be in her 70s was treated and discharged on scene.”
